The Filling Station
Why the Filling Station
Craft beer + wood fired flatbread + old world ambiance equals one heck of a place to enjoy an afternoon—or evening—with family and friends. Located along the shores of Boardman Lake in the old Pere Marquette Rail Depot, The Filling Station has become a Traverse City landmark all its own. In keeping with its pedigree, The Filling Station has become a different kind of transportation hub—by bicycle, by foot, by car, or by boat, never has a brew pub been so accessible! With both family and adult friendly seating options—indoors and out—it’s hard to imagine a more relaxed and enjoyable eating environment. They have a sandbox for kids, yard games for adults, and a live music series cleverly coined “Ales by the Rails”. And did we mention, their flatbreads are amazing!
What you have to try:
The Stoker
Flatbread Pizza:
The Stoker: Marinara, roasted onions, red peppers, garlic tomatoes sesame steeds, house-made pork sausage and mozzarella. Topped with a drizzle of roasted red pepper and tomato oil sauce. Oh baby!
Microbrew:
Sleeping Bear Saison. Refreshing medium bodied beer made with Pilsner, Munich, Wheat and Crystal Malts. 40 pounds of local star thistle honey is added at the end of the boil. This brew has a slightly fruity aroma and taste followed by a hint of spice from Saaz and East Kent Goldings hops.
What’s up Michigan Favorite:
The Firebox. For those of us that enjoy truly hot peppers, this flatbread will not disappoint!
